Josh started his job today at the bread factory. The cool thing is that we found out he’s allowed to take 2 loaves of bread every day! This is great news because it means I get to have lots of toasted sandwiches. My two favourite toasted sandwiches are “spaghetti and cheese” and “salsa and cheese.” I would have never thought to put those things in a sandwich and toast it but it’s amazing. We’ve already established how obsessed I am with New Zealand cheese.
Mmm. Cheese. Look at this big block of pure awesome!
When Josh got home with his toasted sandwich materials, he stated proudly, “Now I’m the breadwinner!”
He takes after my grandfather who, upon hearing about Josh’s job said, “He’ll be making a lot of dough soon. He better not get caught loafing around on the job!”
My family makes puns like these all the time.
Do you have any cringeworthy puns to share?
I’m in the mood.

I am actually pretty sure the only reason my mom had a kid was to play silly pun word games with her. We actually sometimes will mail each other silly news stories and see how far we can get with the puns. Here’s goes.
I hope it doesn’t turn out to be a crumby place to work.
He’d better pay attention and make sure things don’t go a-rye.
Annnnd…my grand finale…it’s good he got that job because you guys really knead the dough.
LOL Lisa you are a pun-master! Those are awesome!
I emailed my mom, hoping she’d come comment here, but she didn’t. She did email back the following though:
“He better work hard at his job, or he’ll be toast in that career. Of course he’ll see a new slice of life.”
You can see my family is totally upper crust. HA HA HA!
HAHAHAHA. You guys are freaking brilliant. <3
Spaghetti (or baked beans) and cheese toasties are the food of Kiwi champions (not really, but I thought it sounded cool!). Never had salsa and cheese though, but I MUST try it now.
Sam makes a lot of puns, but he makes so many so often that I can’t even think of just one to share. Sorry! :P
OMG I must try baked beans in my toasted sandwich! THANK YOU!!
That sounds really good, especially spaghetti and cheese, mmmm! I’ve never tried New Zealand cheese, but it sure looks tasty.
That’s awesome that he gets to bring home two loaves of bread every day. That will definitely save a little money on groceries, right? I mean, I know bread isn’t SUPER expensive, but really anything you don’t have to buy anymore is definitely grand.
I can’t think of any funny puns to go with working at a bread factory, but those you said are hilarious.
Just like to add here that in NZ right now, bread of any calibre is actually bloody expensive.
It’s funny you should say this because I was recently trying to explain to an Australian that even though bread is the same price here as it is there, the exchange rate means that we are actually paying a hell of a lot more.
The money Caity and Josh save on bread, they can spend on more cheese. Two loaves could get them about 2/3rds of a 1kg block! Haha.
Haha Derp is Josh.
That is so true Nellie. Bread is damn expensive and I’m so excited I can buy more cheese for my toasted sandwiches now!!
I actually had a strange feeling it might have been him! :P
Your friend Lisa’s puns are very clever! I’ll have to try to remember them so I can tell them to Grandpa! He’ll get a big kick out of them! ~ ~ It was GREAT skyping with you last night. Sorry I was so tired! I was in a deep sleep when you called. ~ ~ I’ll let you know how MOKO makes out at the groomer today! She’s (the groomer) supposed to be awesome! ~ ~ Love and miss you! Love, Mom xoxo
Thanks! Like I said, I was pretty much conceived so my mom could have someone to play word games with. I should actually link my mom to this. She’ll have some gooders!
For some reason the word “gooders” is making me giggle. And I believe it’s probably due to my immaturity. Heh, gooders.
My uncle is master of the punns. Haha! I live hanging around him cause his are actually really good and most cases I don’t even notice he was being funny right away.
My dad, on the other hand, tries really hard to come up with them and they usually have something to do with farts. Not as funny, but the occasional laugh does muster.
I really liked your grandpa’s puns. :)
LOL THOSE PUNS!!!!!!! Especially breadwinner! And ooh i looove spaghetti and cheese in a toasted sandwich… don’t get me hungry now…
hahaha! I love puns, but I don’t have any clever ones, atm.
Anytime I make spaghetti and garlic bread, my boyfriend, James, always makes a sandwich out of them! I thought he was ridiculous until I tried it. Its pretty good. [=
I giggled at both of those puns, hehe.
Does that make Josh a baker then? :) That’s really rural, which is somehow awesome in my books. Our family don’t do puns, we just have open house slaying matches.
He doesn’t do baking. It’s more quality control and assembly line sort of things. :P
That pun is actually funny because I’m pretty sure if you trace “breadwinner” back to its roots it literally means the person who brings home the bread. Or maybe I’m just making that up? :P
2 loaves of bread A DAY, though! That is a lot of bread! Lucky you :D
I definitely think you’re right. Whoever could bring the bread was providing for their family.
Yeah, we’re going to freeze some because we definitely don’t want to eat THAT much bread.
Andrew’s dad loves puns, and unfortunately so does Andrew. I wouldn’t mind them, a little turn on words is fun now and then, but they always somehow make it super corny. Puns are already corny, and they go an ultra-cornify them until you just want to punch yourself in the face.
Haha yeah sometimes they just make you CRINGE.
Hahaha! All those puns are great :)
I’m not very punny but I am getting a kick out of reading everyone else’s!
Well, I just hope he’s bready to work hard, because it sounds like quite the job. I dough think he’ll be just fine, though. Maybe he should try to butter up his bosses to make his earnings rise!
Those are great puns! Love ‘em! :)
I would be ecstatic if my husband started working at a bread factory – oh my goodness!
