Your questions answered.

20 Mar

I gave you all the opportunity in my last 2 entries (though only one person only saw the opportunity the first time) to ask me questions. Well, here are those answers! I hope that you are happy with what I have to say! Brace yourselves for a whirlwind of Caity!

    Shellie asked:

  • What is Moko’s favorite toy?
She goes crazy over these particular mouse toys that we buy her. She rips them apart and we have to buy more for her.
    Lissy asked:

  • um… if you could be … um … any type of … um … squash … yeah, squash … what type of squash would you be?
I suppose I would be yellow squash because I eat it most often.
    Ashleenah-Page asked:

  • If you could change one thing about your life what would it be and why?
I am a firm believer that everything in life happens for a reason and the events in your life make you who you are. For that reason, I probably wouldn’t change anything in my life at all besides a tiny little desire to already be in New Zealand, of course. ;)

    Kaylee asked:

  • What made you decide to major in math?
Math wasn’t actually my first choice. At first, I was going to major in voice and musical theater. However, my parents convinced me that I should choose something that was more practical (as did the rest of my family and friends) and I was good at math, too. I always loved math and I did peer tutoring and I loved to teach other people and I was good at that aspect of it. I went right into freshman year knowing that I wanted to teach math.
  • When you were a kid, what did you want to become when you grew up?
I always told everyone that I wanted to be a “singing actress.” I assume that meant I wanted to do some sort of musical theater. I was pretty good at it, too. I even took dance lessons and voice lessons (as well as acting lessons later on). Heck, I’d still love to accomplish my inner child’s dream.
    Krissy asked:

  • If you could have any superpower in the world, what would you want to have and why?
I have always wanted to fly. Why? Oh my gosh… who wouldn’t want to feel free and soar among the clouds?
  • As a challenge to yourself, how many days straight do you think you could eat peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches before you had enough? A week? A month? Eternity? :P (Said sandwiches would, of course, be vegan friendly. :)
Well, thankfully peanut butter and jelly are vegan and I’m a fan of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I am the type of person who definitely goes through phases, though. I ate the same lunch for an entire year of high school. I could probably go for a pretty long time.,/li>

  • If you were to change your name to anything else, what would you change it
I like my name just fine, actually. I’ve always liked my name a lot!
    Angel asked:

  • Besides family and friends, what will you miss most about the U.S when you move to New Zealand?
I have actually started thinking about this quite a lot. Obviously those two are the first on my list but once in a while something comes to mind that I think to myself, “Oh no! I won’t have this anymore!” One thing is the ease of being able to buy things. (Yes, I know the evils of consumerism.) Electronics are cheaper here, too. I’ll miss my dad’s boat. There are probably a lot more but I won’t know until after I’m there because I won’t know until I don’t have them. Y’know?
  • Have you ever considered locating your biological parents or have you located them?
    Nope. I haven’t.

  • If you have, how was the experience? If you haven’t, what has made you consider it and what has made you avoid it?
I have always considered my birth parents to be my parents and have never, ever been curious at all. My mom always told me “You didn’t grow in my tummy, but you grew in my heart.” It’s true. She’s my mother in every sense of the word.
    Stacey asked:
  • I hope you haven’t covered this before but I haven’t read it…how did you and your hubs meet?
We met online playing World of Warcraft! We were friends online for a few years and then he came over to New York to visit and the rest if history. We were instantly inseparable.
    Dez asked:

  • Have you ever straightened your hair?
    Yes, I have!
    New Haircut! (by caitysparkles)
  • What is your favorite photo of yourself?
    This one!
    365: 118 (by caitysparkles)
  • What is the hardest thing about being vegan?
Going out to eat. Sometimes it is very hard to find something on the menu to accommodate me.
  • How often are you on the computer?
I am on the computer for probably 80-90% of the time I am not at work or sleeping. Very often.
  • What is one item you cannot part with from your childhood?
I have a stuffed toucan that I will not give away. I’ve had him since I was 1. His name is Tuki.
    Kathleen asked:

  • To which town in New Zealand are you moving? Would you prefer living on the North or on the South island?
I have family in Wellington and Masterton. We will most likely be moving right around there. We prefer the North Island as that’s where all our family lives!
    Regina and Sara asked:

  • What is your favourite song to sing?
My favorite songs are always changing and as a singer that is an impossible question for me but you can check out my youtube channel for some songs that I’ve sung for you!
    Regina asked:

  • What do you see yourself doing 10 years down the road?
I see myself living and teaching in New Zealand, raising a family, and being happy!
    Sean asked:

  • How do you come up with so many blog entries?
I love to blog and blogging just comes naturally to me because I love to write and share about whatever is going on inside my head!
    Alexandra asked:

  • What is the most difficult thing about being a Catholic for you. Does your hubs go to mass with you and if not, is that something you wish he did?
The most difficult thing is that my family is more religious than I am, I guess. I have a lot of beliefs that differ from the Catholic Church’s ways. I guess that is the most difficult thing for me, especially for being a cantor. I’m probably overreacting, too. Something I think is a big deal is probably something other people would laugh at. Hahaha.
  • Would you like to have children?
Absolutely! I can’t wait until we start trying to have kids! Josh and I want to have 2 or 3 children and have talked about it in great detail. :)
  • Do YOU really want to move to NZ? Is it something you decided together, or was it always planned that since he came over to the US you would always eventually move back over there? What about the move is your biggest worry, and what are you most excited about?
It is definitely something that I want and Josh has made sure of that. He would never make me do something that I didn’t want to do. I’m not going to lie – I probably wouldn’t have gotten up and moved to NZ if I had never met Josh but it has been my choice to move to NZ despite everyone’s popular belief that Josh just wants to go back home. I love New Zealand and I can’t wait to go back. Excellent question. Thanks for worrying about my interests. :)
    Cori asked:

  • Do you still play WoW?
Nope. Although I will always hold the game dear to my heart since I met Josh playing the game, Josh and I have both quit.
  • If so, what’s your favorite class?
I had a level 70 of each class before WotLK. My two main characters were a paladin and a priest.
  • If not, do you ever miss it?
Of course I do. That game is like crack. You never fully recover!
    Jessica asked:

  • If you could visit any period from the past right now, what would it be? :)
I wouldn’t want to live in the past. No thanks. I’m more of a scifi type of gal.
    Jeni asked:

  • why are you so awesome? : )
Haha well thanks. I don’t know!
    Jonna asked:

  • Why on Earth did you pick teaching as a career? :D
Well, I feel really great when I feel like I am making a difference in a kid’s life. I like that feeling when I bring a kid’s C to a B+ or that B to an A. I like that feeling when I can make a child understand something they haven’t been understanding and it was all because of me. I like to make learning fun. Haven’t you ever had a teacher that made everything seem all worthwhile? I want to be that teacher… the one who makes a difference.

This video pretty much sums it up:

    Jannie asked:

  • I too have wondered if you guys want to have children. Do you? :)
Yes, absolutely. We have talked about it quite in depth. We want to have a few of ‘em!
  • Do you see yourself being vegan forever?
I don’t see myself changing anywhere in the foreseeable future. I’m very happy and feel very healthy being vegan! I can definitely see myself doing this for a very long time. I just passed the 8-month mark!
  • What do you like best about teaching?
I love when the kids get all excited about what I am teaching. It really makes me happy. Also, it really excites me when I see their grades go up. It makes me feel like I have made a difference.
  • Would you like to build a house from scratch someday? Do you guys plan to?
Josh and I have talked about buying old homes and fixing them up for fun projects. Do it yourself projects are great fun and Josh is handy and I am artsy and crafty when it comes to decorating and that kind of thing. Perhaps we could build from scratch one day. That could be great fun but we’d have to talk about it first!
  • When’s the last time you flung your bra?? And where did it land?? :)
Haha, leave it up to you to ask a silly question like that, Jannie! I can’t think of a time I’ve done that! I am quite modest when it comes to my undergarments…

That was great Caity, thanks so much for sharing! I was so excited when you said you’d posted your answers! I am like you about my Catholic faith, a cafetaria catholic, I just pick and choose what I am ok with and leave the stuff I don’t agree with (like this pope we have, I so don’t think he should be pope!, but that is for another day…) Thanks much for opening up like this, I hope all your dreams and wishes come true!!

I love this and will copy the format of it on my blog in the future:) Thank you for sharing about yourself:)

Aw, I missed out! Oops. Been so behind on the web lately!

I think it’s always interesting to see how you change over the years. No more WoW, for starters! Of course there will be those little things that we lose interest in but will always stay with us.

    And I also used to want to perform, such as dancing, singing and playing instruments when I was younger. But I guess that has changed and I really want to have a job in something with computers. I also spend a ridiculous amount of time on my computer, too. O-o;

I notice you use that photo of yourself a lot! You look wonderful in it. :) I can’t say I have a favourite of mine, since I change mine when I find something new and better. :P

Wonder how I missed it the first go round. Glad that you posted a second time so I could ask! Why don’t you straighten your hair more?

So Bryan and I aren’t happy with your answer to my squash question. We don’t think you should want to be the squash you like to eat because you wouldn’t want to eat yourself.

I myself would like to be spaghetti squash because it’s all cool and stringie and really, what other vegetable gets to be all stringy like. Bryan would like to be a pumpkin. He said why, but I wasn’t really listening.

Aw, I missed out on asking you a question!

I totally understand the WoW addiction. My boyfriend and I have started playing again and I feel like I’ve relapsed. :P I had a pre-WotLK 70 mage. Now I’m starting all over again with a blood elf rogue. So much has changed since I last played, it almost feels like a different game!

This was really fun to read and I learned a lot about you. :)

:) Yay, I got an answer! *giggle* No, actually, all my teachers have, overall, been of the mean, expect-you-to-overachieve variety and my dad is a specialized math/physics/chemistry teacher (of the aforementioned type, total nazi as a teacher) and kids here in Finland at least are so rowdy and out of control, in the teacher’s face, that anyone’s decision to pick teaching puzzles me. :)

Glad to hear this is not the case there!

It’s fun to read all this stuff, you can only get to know so much about a person when you read their personal info and their blog entries :) Thanks for sharing your answers to these questions Caity!
