I think customer service is really important. I think customer service is just an extension of how we should treat other people. It’s all about human compassion. I do think it works both ways, though. Just like those who work in customer service should work with respect, they should receive it back as well. I am always compassionate and respectful to anyone who I deal with in my daily life especially those who are “serving me” and helping me out in the places that I go. I think the only way that customer service standards decline is if the standards of respect are not expected from both ends.

Being in a certain role of customer service myself, I have a new respect for people who are stuck dealing with the public on a day-to-day basis. With that said, I know there have been numerous times where people in that role completely could care less how they treat the public. I think it’s a nasty vicious cycle of people hating people and so we all end up treating each other like crap. It’s sad, really.
These meme has some interesting questions, that’s for sure. Customer service jobs suck a lot – I always feel really bad for them after working several customer service jobs in high school/college. Dealing with the public is top on my list of things that I would really rather not do as a job. :/
Customer service is very important, I agree. I also think that customers should be polite to the workers at stores etc.
