15 Books

A break from our regularly scheduled New Zealand program to bring you a meme!

I was tagged by Mika.

The rules: Don’t take too long to think about it. Fifteen books you’ve read that will always stick with you. List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes. Tag fifteen friends, including me, because I’m interested in seeing what books my friends choose.

    Here are my 15 books.

  • Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig
  • Tuesdays With Morie by Mitch Albom
  • The Algebraist by Iain M. Banks
  • His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman (I cheated a little.)
  • American Gods by Neil Gaiman
  • Stardust by Neil Gaiman
  • The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger
  • Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes
  • The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
  • Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt
  • A Wrinkle In Time by Madeline L’Engle
  • Life Of Pi by Yann Martel
  • The Giving Tree by Shell Silverstein
  • The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

I am going to tag: Angela, Anna, Holly, Jannie, Kerri, Lisa, Lotta, Manda, Manda, Michelle, Nellie, Ronnica, Sara, Shola, and Mika.

  1. Which would you say was the best?

  2. Ooh, I loved Flowers for Algernon (you don’t find a lot of people who have read and loved that book any more), Catcher in the Rye, and the Life of Pi! I’ve been meaning to read The Great Gatsby for aaaages. I should get on top of that.

  3. This list is really, really similar to what mine would be. Hooray for His Dark Materials, Neil Gaiman, and A Wrinkle in Time!

  4. A lot of your books would appear on my list too! Nice choices.

  5. Oh my goodness, Flowers for Algernon! One of my favorite favorites!!

  6. Very cool, even though I wasn’t tagged I may have to steal this!

  7. I didn’t get tagged. :P
I’m kind of glad, though, because I don’t know 15 people that actually read my blog, and I can’t think of 15 books I’ve read that have really stuck with me. … Unless plays count? =P

The Great Gatsby & Little Women I have read. They were pretty good. At least, I think Little Women was? I read it in fourth grade, and in my mind, it was amazing then. :]

Thanks! It’s from Hannah.nu. I wanted to use it before but I don’t have photoshop, so she fixed the header image for me. :D

I think here a Katydid is a grasshopper. o.o We also call walking sticks Praying Mantises. This is the first I’ve heard of a Walking Leaf! =P

  8. Aside from the five books on your list I have already read, the majority of this list is on my “I need to read this…” list. But it seems everyone has the same idea as me and they’re always out at the library!

  9. I love books! I’ve only read 2 of those books…might have to check out a few more. I definitely want to read Stardust and Catcher in the Rye. This sounds kinda fun, I might have to try it later…although I don’t think I have 15 people I could tag lol.

  10. Haha, we used to have cows but anymore. o.o

I don’t like Beth. I used to know someone named that and just … egk.

I might be going with Izzie. :) I liked that one a lot. xD

  11. I’ve read quite a few of those myself. I actually have American Gods in my pile of books to read next. I’m very excited to get started on it as I’ve heard nothing but good things!

  12. YAY, this will be fun! Thanks for tagging me! :)

  13. Good choices! I’ll be sure to fill out this meme in a bit :)
