Visiting Kayla!

Today, I went out east to visit my friend Laura’s horse Kayla!

Visiting Kayla

I had a really great time. Kayla seemed to remember me from the last time I was there which wasn’t since January of 2010! She came right over to me and nuzzled me as if to say, “hey, friend! Thanks for coming back!”

It was adorable, really. :)

I helped to brush and groom her with Laura and Laura’s Mom who arrived later with Laura’s brother. I had a lot of fun doing this! (Plus, it didn’t hurt that it was probably some pretty great exercise grooming a big horse!) Kayla really seemed to enjoy herself too!

Here’s the whole crew! :)

I got to watch Laura’s mom ride the horse today too! It was too busy at the barn for anyone else to ride today but I might even go back and try to ride Kayla another time. I think it would be so fun to try. The only other time I have been on a horse I had a horrible experience. Perhaps I’ll save that story for a later date since this is a happy post.

  1. Looks like you had fun, and such a pretty horse! I love horses, I wish I could ride more but I really only ride when I go out to California and ride my parents’ or grandparents’ horses.

  2. I want to go horseback riding. I went when I was 13 once and I had a lot of fun. Your day looked enjoyable. I’m jealous of your lack of snow too.

Looks like you and Laura had a great time! ~ I know just the “other horseback riding experience” to which you are referring!! I think everyone will enjoy hearing about your adventure! You should definitely tell it sometime! ~ Love, Mom xoxo

  4. Aw she looks like a sweetheart! I really miss riding, I hope one day I can get back into it. I would love to be able to have just one horse of my own.

  5. I have never been that close to a horse before, defiantly never rode one, they’re so pretty though. :D

  6. Looks like you had fun! It is amazing how animals remember people and scents. I have never rode a horse. I would love to try it as well!

  7. Wow Kayla’s beautiful! And it looked like such a beautiful day as well. Kind of chilly-looking but still beautiful.

I used to be obsessed with horses as a young child and drew literally thousands of illustrations of horses until I could draw them whilst asleep. I never learnt to ride formally which is one of my biggest regrets but who knows? Maybe someday.

  8. I love horses. I used to ride when I was younger but I haven’t for a long time. I go and visit the horses near Alex’s grandma a lot though. They’re big shire horses and they’re beautiful.

  9. Aw, how adorable! I have always wanted to spend some quality time with horses, but for some reason I am SO much more allergic to them than to most other animals. It looks like you had a fun time, though!

  10. Awhhhh, so adorable! I LOVE horses! I used to ride but something happened and I don’t anymore. I still visit every once in awhile. I love your pictures and how you ordered them.
