The Orchard

There is fruit growing all around where Josh and I live. In fact, there happens to be a vineyard right in our backyard. There are even some pear trees back there. When the weather gets nicer I am told that we are welcome to take some pears even though it’s technically on our landlord’s property and not ours.

The next loop over (these crazy country roads are loops and not streets) has a huge apple orchard. Josh actually worked on it for a while last year. Josh took me for a walk around it and showed me where he worked when we went to visit our friend who was still living on the property at the time pruning the trees.

The Orchard

It is absolutely gorgeous over there!

We walked all the way to the top of the hill and I was amazed at how far I could see. I even cried out the horribly cliche phrase, “I can see our house from here!” (but only because I really could!)

Josh wasn’t as impressed as I was but don’t be fooled – he still loves the view. He took me to where his dad usually parks his bus so that I could have the best view. Because, duh, my father in law is going to park his bus where the best view is. He’s no fool.

Deer

Afterward, we went to feed the deer some apples. Apparently nobody comes by to feed them apples very much and they were incredibly excited.

Deer

They were not incredibly coordinated, though, so most of them would just stare at us while the rest of them would watch the apples roll past them or watch the apples roll in between their legs. It was actually really amusing.

As the sun was setting all I could think of was OMG LOOK A BUNCH OF PATRONUSES LOL

This might have something to do with the fact that I recently have FINALLY read all the Harry Potter books. I know – about time, right? I’m only about a million years too late.

  1. EEEE! Great pictures!

I love the Patronous comment because it’s so true! :D

  2. AWWWW! DEER!!! Where they friendly deer? They’ve only started farming deer in recent years (like, 100~ years, IDK, a shorter time then sheep / beef / dairy) so apparently they are still angry animals. Er, is angry the right word?

    Anyhow. View is awesome. :)

  3. Great pictures and deer!! wooohoo!

Seeing the photos of the deer you fed reminds of of when Dad & I took you and Corinne to feed the deer at Heckshire State Park when you were little! Ahhh, memories! ~ Love, Mom

  5. Wow! What a beautiful area you live in. Enjoy your free pears!

    The deer, too… They’re beautiful! :}

I think that that would be my favorite part of the view… Probably. Maybe. Maybe not. :P
