Today I went to my friend Elaine’s college graduation party. I had a pretty nice time despite the DJ being way too loud. I felt like an old lady but the bass was shaking the entire room. The cups at the tables the furthest away from the DJ had the liquid actually moving in them. That’s a bit too much, in my opinion. It was still a very nice party, though, and I was really proud of my friend.
One thing I was upset about was that I brought my camera and took not one photo. The place was on a beautiful location that overlooked the water and even as we were leaving the sun was setting over the water and my camera was right there in my bag being idle. In the party, I had plenty of opportunities to snap a picture of people but I just didn’t. I really need to try and sort out what my problem is. I think I have been a bit discouraged with my photographs lately and it has made me not want to take any at all. I expected to be better than I am at taking photos now, I think. Practice makes perfect, though, and I need to keep reminding myself of this fact and keep trying.
It feels good to be blogging again… even if it’s just a little tidbit each day. I really missed it. I caught up on a lot of other people’s blogs over the past few days, too. I didn’t leave as many comments as I usually do but I read almost every post I read through google reader and left some spare comments here and there. I had over 1,000 blog posts that I had missed due to my falling off the face of the internet for a while there but I think I’m getting back into the swing of things now.

I popped in yesterday and read your last few posts and wondered where the photos were.. You take great photos Caity, try not to get discouraged! Not every shot has to be a show stopper, I guess just try and work out why you enjoy taking photos and go back to that to get back into the groove =)
Don’t be discouraged with your photographs. I’ve seen some of your work and it’s good. Keep trying because you can and will get better.
Aw, don’t ever feel bad about being behind with blogs! I’m sure people appreciate that you even visit, even if you don’t comment. Sometimes people don’t have too much to say on a post.
Practice does make perfect – sometimes I’m not too happy with my photos but there is always room for improvement – no one is perfect. I think your photos are great; sometimes we might just have a bad day or our camera has a bad day!
Seeing the liquids shake – that’s definitely too much and TOO LOUD. I like loud music generally, but if you’re at a party of sorts, you don’t want to feel uncomfortable or sick, you just want to have a good time.
I know you’re always your toughest critic and it’s hard thing to break, but as long as I’ve known you I really wish you weren’t so hard on yourself! You’re greatly talented person, even when it comes to things you’re just starting out on. You always get better!
If you can, when you catch yourself thinking about something like taking a picture too much, pick up the camera and click away instead :) I have to say, some of the best photos aren’t ones that are thought-through. Random and instantaneous shots are fun to look at, at the very least!
I’m glad to see your activity picking up. I’ve missed seeing you around!
If you enjoy taking photos, keep doing it. *I* personally like your pictures. Keep at it, I say!
Just keep taking pictures! You WILL get a lot of terrible duds, but you have to take a bunch in order to get a good one. Even the best photographer doesn’t have every shot they take become a winner! When I shoot concerts, I get excited if 1 out of every 10 is decent. Just shoot away and you’ll end up with a few great shots!
I’m glad you’re blogging again :)
As for photography, I found that processing the pictures is actually very helpful for my photo morale.
By processing them I make them look prettier, and I feel I’m investing more time&energy in each photo therefore making it more precious.
Have you tried Pioneer Woman’s Photoshop actions? They’re free, and are quite nice.
I totally know what you mean by getting discouraged. I actually take my camera everywhere I go and fail to get it out of my purse about 90% of the time. And it makes me angry when I do that, because life is hilarious and I want a visual reminder of these crazy times!
Hello Caity! It’s been awhile! It’s nice to see you again or visit you again. I’ve been busy during the past days working on my exams and tutoring some classmates as well.
I can totally relate with the camera thing. I’ve been to a party once and it was great and I wanted to blog about it but the thing is I forgot my camera and the pictures that I took with my old mobile phone wasn’t a good help either.
I’m the same way with my photos. In fact, yesterday I took my DSLR out to take a photo (I usually just use my point-and-shoot) and BOTH my batteries were dead – that made me sad because that meant it has been way too long since the camera was last used. If I’m worried about doing a poor job, I just avoid the situation – that’s not helpig me improve my photography skills, though. We both need to get over this! :)
It’s great having you back in blogland – you were missed!
Never feel bad about missing people’s blog posts! I was wondering where you had got to though, your blog is quite wonderful.
Congratulations to your friend on graduating! I hear you on music having the potential to be *too* loud. When it’s that loud, in my opinion, it just isn’t enjoyable anymore. I don’t like having to scream in order to be heard, you know?
I’m glad you’re blogging again too! I may not always comment, because I suck like that, but I do always read. :)
I hate when I bring my camera somewhere and intend to take pictures and then I don’t! Bleh!
My advice would be to just keep on taking pictures. It just gets better:) Try not to think to much about it either. Just snap away:P
I’m gonna TRY to get back into the swing of things!! The new blog looks awesome though. Keep trying, last tour I brought 2 cameras and barely took any photo, gotta get my mojo/inspiration back.
Aw I hate doing that when I take my camera and forget to take picture, drives me nuts! welcome back to blogging :)
I love looking at your photos, so please continue snapping them!! And I also hate getting behind on my Google Reader…I couldn’t imagine having over 1000. Having over 100 freaks me out!
Next time you’ll get some pictures, Caity. We all go through times when the camera’s there but we just don’t feel like snapping.
For me, once I get My Amazing Camera I’ll probably go through those days too.
Love ya, Caity!! It was a thrill to see your gravatar pop up over at my blog!
xo
No worries, gal. I’m just catching up too : ) the job search is so exhausting I keep forgetting to check on everyone! :/
