New Zealand!

I have been in New Zealand for over a week now and I’m starting to settle in quite nicely. I had a bit of an issue computerwise because first we had no internet, then we got internet but I couldn’t login to my blog! I had to contact my host and get new passwords and everything. That’s what I get for saving passwords on my computer and not remembering to write them down. Everything is resolved now, though!

I won’t bombard you with everything all at once but I have so many adventures already to tell you about!

Today I went on a nature walk at Mount Holdsworth with Josh and my mother-in-law (who we’re currently staying with).

Nature Hike!

Nature Hike!
Josh said that when he was little he used to crawl in there.

Nature Hike!
That’s me looking pensive.

Nature Hike!
Tree in the way of the path? No match for my expert climbing. (sarcasm there)

Nature Hike!
Viv admiring a Silver Fern. New Zealand’s national tree.

Nature Hike!
Apparently it’s really called a Punga! I can remember Silver Fern better, though.

Nature Hike!
Josh taking sneaky photos of me and Viv again!

Nature Hike!
Josh being a cheeky monkey.

Nature Hike!
Josh again admiring nature.

Nature Hike!
Josh loves nature. He went and sat on a rock in the middle of the river.

Nature Hike!
I love this picture of Josh but Josh wasn’t impressed by it.

Nature Hike!
We kept telling Josh that since he kept walking across the river to take off his sneakers. He told us no and that the water was really cold. I told him to harden up and took off my shoes and socks and stood in the river. This only lasted a few seconds since it actually was really cold. Later on, this became a contest of what we could stick in the river. After Josh laid on a rock and stuck his whole head underwater, I forfeited.

Nature Hike!
Josh’s shirt is wet from dunking his head. I’m not really that short, by the way. Josh is just really, really tall.

Nature Hike!
Some flowers on the way out.

We had a really great day!

The Goodbye
PS: I miss these guys.
My parents, sister, and me at the airport when I was leaving.

  1. It’s SO PRETTY!!! Looks like you guys are having a blast! Can I come?

Looove the second picture of the national tree. Trees + sun = Awesome.

  2. YAY! Caity is back online! Although, get offline (except to blog) and go out and explore and collect lots of rad adventures (then blog about them).

Moving to another country is exciting, but also scary and kind of weird. You seem to be settling in nicely, and hopefully your family will come visit once you’re settled. Two of our housemates are kiwis. We’ve already pretty much been TOLD we have to come visit them in the future. And then I will pop in and see you, because NZ is so just a tiny little island you can just walk across in a day, right? ;)

  3. Hehe. I bet ponga isn’t the only Maori word you’re having trouble with! We have some rather crazy and hard to pronounce things here. Even the word Maori itself is hard to pronounce correctly.

Nice to see you’ve settled in and you’re having some fun :)

  4. I’m so glad to hear you’re safely across the borders and that you’re setteling in. It looks really beautiful there! And I LOVE the picture of you climbing over the tree, it made me laugh :)
