I was mentioning to my friend Nicole after my trip to New York City last week that I had my first real manicure while I was there. She thought this was hilarious and couldn’t believe that I hadn’t had a manicure at a real place before the age of 26 years old. She asked me if I ever had a pedicure.
Obviously not.
Nicole decided that this had to be remedied. I agreed. I figured I had to try anything once and if I can try Zumba then why couldn’t I try a pedicure?
First of all, I wore sneakers. Nobody told me to bring sandals. Lesson one learned. I had to spend an excessive amount of time underneath the nail dryer after my pedicure. But hey, we weren’t in a rush and it was a whole new experience for me so I had a ball. Plus, now I’ll never forget sandals if I ever decide to do it again.
I don’t like feet. I never liked feet. I didn’t expect to like a pedicure going into it because, well, I don’t like feet. Also, my feet are really ticklish and I hate the feeling of my feet being touched.
It was quite nice having my feet soak. It was also quite nice having my feet massaged. It was also really quite nice when they took that really rough thing and rubbed it on my foot. I liked those parts. However, when they started trying to take the little clippers and pick little pieces delicately and clip my toenails? Sorry, that tickles and I don’t like it. I felt like saying I was done right there. You don’t have to clip my toenails and make them pretty and paint them! You made my feet feel good and now they are soft and nice. I’m done!
However, now this is what my feet look like.
Maybe it’s not a standard colour but my favourite colour is blue so I picked blue. I like it.
When I woke up the next morning, it scared the hell out of me when I saw my feet. I thought I was hurt. Or bleeding. Or had some sort of horrible abscess under my toenail. I guess it’s semi appropriate since the name of this colour is blue blood.
Another experience to check off Caity’s bucket list.

I’ve made it to 26 without a manicure or a pedicure either ;) I really love that color though, it’s an awesome blue. You’re having so many great experiences lately :D
Heck, I’ve made it to almost 30 without either lol. I know more people that haven’t had them then have :P.
I’ve had a manicure but I’ve never had a pedicure, either! I can’t imagine liking it because my feet are so ticklish and I generally don’t like anyone touching them! But I want to try and get one – I’d just be afraid of kicking the person in the face accidentally, LOL!
Pretty color you picked out!
So far I’ve made it to 26 without either a manicure or a pedicure! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE makeup and nail polish (you’ll hardly see me without the former and you’ll never see me without the latter), but I can’t justify spending $50 or more to have someone else paint my nails. I’ll go to town with my own clippers and buffers, thank you very much. Also? I’m not a foot person, and like you I have ticklish feet!
Your feet look awesome, btw. And I love that shade of blue!
Mine was only $15! It was on special so I lucked out! And that really surprises me that you never had of because yes, you are like the queen of nail polish, hehe!
I’ve never had either one, either. Technically I had a foot soak once upon a time as a kid – they were trying to sell foot products at the Relay for Life. It was GLORIOUS. But doesn’t count as a pedicure.
Plus we’d been walking barefoot on the track and had black feet at that point. Icky!
Your tootsies are SO CUTE!!!
Beautiful toenails. :)
I am very jealous, as I have a phobia of people seeing my feet myself. I am now tempted. Job accomplished Caity.
I haven’t have a mani or a pedi in soooo long </3 Maybe I can convince Joshua to get me a spa pack as my anniversary present.. *begins con plan*
I love getting my nails done. There is just something relaxing about it.
Yours came out lovely :)
My s/o got me a spa gift certificate for Christmas (like..$300 worth!), but the spa he got it for isn’t where I normally go. It’s prissy, expensive, and not ‘me’. I just got my first pedicure there as well ($70!), and I’m not too sure how I feel about it. Like you, I have very tickelish feet, and hate people touching them. My toes look nice, yes, but I think once the g/c is gone, I won’t be getting another one!!
I LOVE pedicures. Makes me feel so pretty and girly. Also, love the colour you’ve chosen – I usually do dark ont he toenails and light ont he fingernails. Not sure why!
I think I had a pedicure once. On the Disney cruise. And then the nail polish chipped after like 20 minutes and I never did it again.
They tried to convince me to get my feets done for the wedding, but I’m like, er, I’m wearing boots. I swear, no one is going to see my feet.
I’ll be 30 in June and I’ve never had a manicure or pedicure. Your toenails look great – I LOVE the color you chose!
I think your toes look beautiful! ~ I have you beaten by a mile . . . I’m going to be 55 and I still have never had a pedicure! (You DO make one sound inviting, though!) ~ Love, Mom
Aw your toes look pretty! I love having pedicure :)
That’s such an awesome color! Don’t sweat it, Andrew is 26 and he’s never had a mani or pedi. He needs to get on top of that.
I’ve never had a manicure/pedicure so I can totally relate to this post! Especially about the not liking feet/ticklish/don’t like my feet touched part. I think i’d freak out if i ever got a pedicure, so thats why i keep declining my friend when she wants to go! The nail colour you chose looks awesome though! Its like a darker shade of what i have on my feet as well (i do them myself, obviously), haha.
Love!! I love that color, and it’s absolutely adorable on you. I have yet to receive a pedicure myself. I’ve gotten a manicure before… So someday I should probably try this. Although I’m glad you mentioned the sandal lesson, because I would have never thought of that!
I adore pedicures and manicures, since being “an adult” I’ve discovered my love for good sheets, curtains, and manis and pedis.
I never thought I’d see the day. :P Congrats on it…and btw I always get random colours too!
I too have never had a manicure or a pedicure! My nails pretty much suck so if I went in to have them done the people would just make fun of me. Plus I also don’t want people touching my feet. Your pedicure turned out really great, though! I love the color!
I was about 24 before I got my 1st pedicure/manicure.. I haven’t done a “normal calm” colour in years. Love that shade of blue :)
I’ve never had a pedicure either. And, like you, I don’t care for feet either. I’ve had a manicure about a year ago, but that’s about it.
Your feet look so pretty. Love that shade of blue you chose.
Haha we’re opposites. I like the clipping and painting part. Well, not LIKE but it’s alright. The massage part tickles!
