I will be participating in National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) again this year! I was successful in 2009 (and even won a prize)! Last year was a crazy time and I was taking a blogging break during November but now that I’m back in full force, it’s time to give NaBloPoMo another go! I will be blogging every day for the month of November! :)

Yesterday Josh and I decided to go and do something nice outside since the weather was so beautiful. We took a trip to Mapua which is the next village over on the coast here.

We had a walk around the docks and watched all the native birds which I kept scaring away trying to get too close to take awesome pictures of them. Josh told me I was a bad nature photographer.

At least I got a decent picture of this bird before he flew away. That’s probably because he thought I was going to give him some fish & chips.

My mom asked for some pictures WITH PEOPLE IN THEM. So here you go, Mom.

We did end up getting some fish & chips. They were some of the best fish & chips I have ever had, actually. It’s a shame that it took us so long to find them. The more I think about it, though, it’s probably a good thing since we probably would have spent way too much money on fish & chips.

Josh took control of the camera for a while. I thought he was taking pictures of fish & chips but he was actually taking pictures of me. There are actually about 5 horrible pictures of me eating fish & chips and this is the best one out of them. When I told him, “Hey! I thought you were taking pictures of the fish & chips! What the heck!” He cheekily responded, “Well, I live in a country that has fish & chips all over the place. I don’t need pictures of that. I wanted to take pictures of my beautiful wife!” Isn’t he sweet? Now that I think about it, he kept saying how he couldn’t get a good picture and he was probably wondering why I just kept eating and wasn’t posing to smile but I thought he was just having problems taking pictures of food that wasn’t moving and I was wondering why. Now it makes sense.

This is a sad picture. It was the aquarium which was one of the main attractions for this little town but someone burnt it down. It was pretty big news over here being that there isn’t much crime. Arson caught a lot of attention. Josh thought it was strange that something could burn down when it was holding tanks and tanks of water. (He’s joking, guys. It’s enough after the fact that it’s funny. You can laugh.)

Stained glass trees! That’s what Josh named them.

Lets pose for some pictures, Josh!

Here is Josh’s “I love Caity” face.
I told him he looks like he is sleeping.

This is what he comes up with instead.
Oh dear.

“Can we take one more?”

  • Wow, you look absolutely gorgeous, Caity! As does New Zealand.

  • I agree with Tara… New Zealand really seems to agree with you, you look very happy and content. :)

Good luck with NaBloPoMo, I look forward to reading your entries, especially when they contain so many gorgeous nature pictures!

  • Caity,

As usual, I love your photo journals and your comments about living in New Zealand. I read the Halloween post. What a bummer about the lack of celebration.

I can identify with you about people in pictures….I almost never get a person in my pictures, but, like you, work very hard to get animals in them. I liked the bird picture. What kind of bird is it? It’s cool looking.

Also, you look happy and that’s so nice to see:~)

Good luck with NaBloPoM! You can do it!

p.s. thank you for your kind words about the death of my dog, Ms. Dix.

  • You look amazing, my dear!

love the pictures of you and Josh, too.

Keep exploring NZ, I’m living vicariously through you!

  • You look so gorgeous, as does Mapua! I’m so envious of your life and prettiness and your Josh. I want a Josh too! How do I train my future significant bother to be a Josh? ;_;

  • You look great, Caity! You really make me crave fish & chips now. Gah!

  • OK, that fish and chips picture just made my mouth start to water – I miss them so much!!!! I also like to get the curry rolls, fish cakes, potato fritters, hot dogs in batter… oh man, now I’m all homesick again. Stupid Canada, non fish and chip land that it is.

  • The best fish and chips in NZ is in Paihia. I went to the super famous fish and chip store there and they were a-mazing. I know you’re on the south island, but head up there for summer (H) it’s awesome.

You and Josh in the third photo is crying out for a ‘print off’ and a beautiful frame. :)

  • You guys look so cute! Love your freckles and pink cheeks :)
Fish and chips, yum! This post reminds me of a cute poster I saw on Etsy, saying “I’m happier than a bird with a French fry!”.

  • Aww!
