As I mentioned yesterday, I went shopping for a while with my good friend Kierstin as one of our fun things to do besides participate in the Super Bowl.
I don’t have very much money right now (and I’m also trying to save the money that does come my way) but I think that once in a while it’s good to get yourself a treat or two. It can cheer you up and it’s fun to go shopping sometimes if you go to the right places.
Our first stop was The Sports Authority yesterday. Since I’ve been losing weight, I’ve also been keeping up with some ways to keep myself active. Yesterday, I had the bright idea that I should buy a jump rope! So that’s what I did! I went to the store and bought myself a grown up jump rope!
Jumping rope makes me feel like a kid again. If I can work out and it makes me feel all giddy like a little kid then I must be doing something right!
Our next stop was Borders.
I didn’t intend to buy anything in Borders but I don’t know if I’ve actually come out of Borders (or Barnes and Nobles) empty handed. First of all, who says no to a Moleskine planner? I bought a planner in NZ but I can’t seem to find it. Maybe I left it there or maybe I lost it somehow in my travels but nonetheless here is my awesome new planner!
I found this next gem on the clearance rack. Only a few dollars for a beautiful journal? I couldn’t say no. I still don’t know exactly what I’m going to do with it but I already have a couple ideas.
I walked past these playing cards and they were so pretty! I love the design on them and I don’t own my own set of cards. Before I left NZ I played some really fun games of cards at my mother-in-law’s house and I thought maybe I could teach the game to my friends.
Then I saw that the Joker was a wizard. How can you not get the cards when the Joker is a wizard?
Right on the way out, my friend saw these stickers. They were the last ones left and she was going to get them. Then I think she saw how excited I got over them and she decided that I should get them and she was going to get other stickers. I’m so glad because I absolutely adore these stickers. I might put some on my moleskine planner.
So, for all my awesome new Borders gear (not counting the jump rope), I spent just over 8 dollars. Oh, and that includes the Burt’s Bees chapstick I added right at checkout! Not bad for all that cool new stuff, right?

Sounds like a great score! I tried jumping rope a few years ago, it just about killed me, lol… but now I’m tempted to try again. Could always create a DIY “destroy this journal” with the journal… unless it’s too pretty for that. Am mildly curious what the card game was, too ;)
Aw, what lovely little finds. Sometimes retail therapy really does work!
SERIOUSLY? $8 including a Moleskine?! The cheapest ones I’ve seen here are about £12 each. I’m extremely jealous.
Sounds like a great time shopping. I love when you can go to a store and come out with a bunch of cool stuff for not a lot of money. Jumping rope does sound like fun by feeling like a kid again. It’s been so long, I wonder if it’s like riding a bike where you don’t really forget how even if it’s been 15 years. And the wizard joker is awesome, too. :)
What kind of card game was it?
I tried the same thing! I then realised just how hard it is! I remember as a kid skipping for hours and now I can barely do it for minutes :D
Glad you had a fun and profitable day shopping with Kierstin! You are quite the bargain hunter! ~ If you ever feel so inclined, Dad and I would love to learn and play the card games with you! ~ “HAPPY JUMPING!” ~ Love, Mom
I love to jump rope! I haven’t done it in ages and you have me thinking maybe I should give it a whirl again! :) Super cute journal!
I love journals and books and clearance tables! lol. Those stickers are awesome! I would love stickers like that. The images look kind of familiar, but I think that’s just from too much random web surfing lol. Glad you got yourself some treats, everyone deserves some occasionally ;)
Yay for jumping rope!
And I love the idea of a journal. Sadly whenever I tried keeping one, it only lasted for a few weeks :(
Good for you Caity! it’s always good to pamper yourself with a little treat, or two, or three!!
I have the same planner in purple =] it’s great and it’s so affordable! Can’t wait for my next retail therapy.. it’s about due soon! Oh, and I also bought a new jumprope 2 weeks ago, loving it.
