Three point… oh crap.

Today I upgraded to WordPress 3.0. Thankfully it didn’t cause me to lose anything but it did cause me to be a bit frustrated. First of all, I had to upgrade it manually. I know, because clicking five buttons or something is harder than clicking one button. It also broke my horribly coded theme! You’re probably rejoicing on that one too because now I am using something more aesthetically pleasing. However, it was still annoying to set that up. All in all, upgrading to WordPress 3.0 just annoyed me but nothing horrible actually came from it.

I probably should have waited until tomorrow to say I had upgraded. I probably would have just said something like, “oh I upgraded to WordPress 3.0 and I put up a new theme because it broke my old one!” Now that I’ve whined and ranted…

My grandparents are here from North Carolina this week so I’ve been quite busy over the past few days. Today, Josh went fishing with my Dad, my Dad’s friend, and my grandpa. He took some pictures with his camera phone so I thought I would share them with you!

I really have to start taking some photos again. I’ve been in a bit of slump lately.

  1. Aww, I’m sorry to hear that WP 3.0 gave you a headache and lots of frustration! I had to do some tweaking of my theme to get it working correctly after I upgraded =/

Gorgeous scenes! I love photo #3 :D And yes, you should take more photos!

  2. WordPress upgrades that are done manually tend to be frustrating so I understand. Sorry to hear about the broken theme!

As for your photos, wow, they are magnificent!

  3. Sorry to hear you had so much trouble upgrading! WP3 gave me no problems, but I’ve had trouble with other versions in the past. Pretty photos too!

  4. I like both themes :)

I had to manually upgrade because it was yelling at me that it was trying to execute too many things and my server wouldn’t let it do anything anymore. Yet the manual upgrade went really smooth.. weird.

Anyway I like the new theme and glad to hear that you upgraded wordpress :D

  5. Felisa

With a camera phone? Holy crap those look amazing! :)

  6. Those are some gorgeous photos you took! I’m hoping I’ll get some out of my week up in the mountains in a few days :) They’ll be taken with a simple point-and-shoot camera, though… I haven’t gotten into the DSLR world yet and I’m not sure I will.

I had issues upgrading to 3.0 too. For some reason it says something didn’t finish upgrading, but regardless of an automatic or manual upgrade (I’ve done both!), that stupid banner across the top of my admin panel won’t go away. I haven’t found a cure for it yet, either. But hey, everything seems to be working just fine for now lol.

  7. When I upgraded I was prepared to see my site fall to pieces so I very carefully backed up everything. Then I clicked the “automatic upgrade” button and… that was it. No problems at all. What an anti-climax :P

The photos are beautiful! What a sky! I can’t believe they’re taken with a camera phone o_O

  8. I’m sorry to hear about your problems with the upgrade. I remember that being a pain at times when I had a domain as well.

Love the pictures:) Especially the fourth one. Such a pretty sky!

  9. Heh, the theme thing is exactly why I haven’t upgraded yet. I feel like I need a good solid 2-3 days off work before I work on it, just in case.

I hope you find something that inspires you to grab your camera soon! Maybe you can go visit some local outdoor sculptures or something?

  10. I couldn’t auto upgrade either! What’s up with that?
I’m actually totally unexcited about the new wordpress. It’s just even more bloated now with features I’ll never use. What happened to simple + plugins? I miss b2 :(

  11. I’ve never had issues with WP. Been a sweet ride for me. :D ~ Josh took some wonderful pictures though. I use to have this theme too, it’s simple, isn’t it? :)

  12. I really like your new layout! That’s the first thing I thought when I visited your site. I’d never have known it was because the other one broke. I couldn’t upgrade automatically… then again I was using like WordPress -34732943BC or something so that was entirely my fault.

Those photos are beautiful, especially the first one!

  13. Wow! Amazing sky pix via camera phone.

I am still with WP 2.7. Been dragging my feet on the upgrade.

    xo

  14. gorgeous pics!!especially from a camera phone, but then of course now a days you get pretty decent MP on a camera phone!

i think i’m on wordpress 2.8.6 or something. whenever nicole feels like it, and shes not busy she can upgrade it for me if she wants. i wouldn’t feel comfy doing it myself!

  15. a) happy belated anniversary!
    b) Josh’s pictures are definitely beautiful. I can’t even pick a favorite, they’re all so awesome! Your hubby has a greeeat eye for framing : )
    c) I know how you feel about the job thing. I’m just making the serving thing work until I can find a job… I just gotta find SOMETHING. anything to pay the bills. :/
    d) I wish using WordPress on the actual WordPress site would allow me to hand-code without having to pay for anything… I miss making blog site designs! :(

  16. You have me worried now, though if the update breaks my theme it might actually make me change it because I’m getting sick of it anyway.

    Lovely photos, gorgeous sky!

  17. GORGEOUS photo! Wow, absolutely beautiful!
