Hello world! ;)

17 Feb

Yes, you’re looking at an empty blog.

I have a pretty boring reason, but a reason nonetheless.

I decided that it was finally time for me to have a big girl hosting plan of my own instead of just buying from a reseller account. I would like to say, however, that my friend Angela has been an amazing host and the only reason I moved was because I finally wanted to upgrade my space and have my own hosting account, not because there was anything wrong with her hosting. If you are looking for hosting, you should definitely check her out.

That being said, I decided to take Surpass Hosting up on their annual Get One Love offer.

I went to set everything up today only to realize that my mySQL databases wanted to import everything EXCEPT my posts. Oh, I’ve got comments, tags, settings, categories, and anything else you can imagine but the most important thing? Nah.

I could get them, but to tell you the truth… it’s annoying. I decided to pretend it’s all gone and take this opportunity to reorganize my website and restart everything. As silly as it sounds, it makes me happy. So, I hope that you will laugh along with me and keep on reading while I keep on blogging.

Bear with me while I set everything back up.

Oh, and I wiped everything clean so if you’d like to be on the blogroll, I’m restarting that too.

My goodness! This was mighty jarring to see!

Looking forward to reading your fresh blog, and I understand the excitement :) So congrats on the fresh start!

Will be following your writing, as per usual. Blogroll would be great, but I don’t think I was on there to begin with… I leave it in your capable hands.

    Me me me. XD

But congrats on buying the new webspace and all!

I hope it goes well for you. :)

    Good luck with the revamp!

I want to be on your blogroll! Sometimes it’s refreshing to start all over. Yay for having your own hosting. Surpass is a good company. I was with them for a while til Aidan offered to host me.

Sometimes it’s good to start fresh. I did it ages ago, and it certainly made me want to build up my archives again for awhile.

(PS: You could put me on your blogroll if you want!)

WOOOO!! Congrats on the move! :D I think its a great idea to start fresh, sometimes it’s definitely needed.

Starting fresh can be nice! I’m really sentimental so I’ve saved nearly everything since the beginning of my blog in 2006, but deleting everything can just be so satisfying too!

Once I lost every post I had when an upgrade of WordPress went wrong. I don’t remember exactly what happened, but the problem that afflicted my install mostly afflicted Hebrew-language bloggers (of which I was not one, so IDGI) and it changed the locale on the database which FUBAR’d it.

I lost five years of blog entries thanks to that, but like you, I think it was generally a good thing. Many of those old entries were crappy and in some ways it was a good thing to lose them. It enabled me to make a new start, which I did! :)

Oh and I’d love to be on your blogroll, haha! :3

Wow, so empty! I like to clear out my blog every once in awhile and start afresh. It’s kind of neat!

Woah. My head almost exploded when I came on here. But yay for new starts!

Good luck with your new start.

Aaaah… A fresh start. Enjoy it and good luck with it.

Caity — I was a bit worried because I tried to leave a comment yesterday and I kept getting some strange file document, but today…no problem.

You are so daring! You just decided to start over and I love it. I don’t know if I could that…just let go my posts. Then again, blogging always has been known for “writing in the present” and not the past. So, go for it!

I wish you many happy news words at your new site and I’ll be back to visit again soon:~)

    Caity,
I think this is great! Life goes on and when we change our blogs need to change. Happy big girl plans!

Oh wow, a new start. I would have been so annoyed if my posts were gone. I would be upset! But surely if you have the database backup of the posts, someone could help you out? I had problems with WordPress some time ago when moving my database to a new server and I had to go on importing until I imported the correct tables without it going wonky.

I’m really sorry about that! But I hope you can look on this as a good fresh start. :)

Surpass have amazing deals! But I think I would like to buy a reseller from them since I like to host people. I can’t afford it at the moment though. :P

    A fresh starts sounds exciting!!

Just as long as you keep blogging, that’s what I care about! We’ll take all of you in whatever blog form we find you.

    xo

Great new start! :) As you know I did something similar a while back, gave up Daydreamz.net, and moved to a big girl domain that is all me. – I did not even take my 7 years of blogging history with me either. That was hard to do at first.

Do you still have all your archives saved somewhere? A back up that your old host could do for you, as I make sure to make double backups – and saved to various places so I still have them if I wanted. It is a terrible waste to lose all those thoughts and feelings you have documented. :)

I would still very much love to be apart of your blogroll :) Please and thank you.

Ah, the feeling of starting anew, I know how it is… ;)

I was a bit surprised to come here and see the Kubrick since I’m used to seeing your fancy layouts, but then I scrolled down and went “ah! She restarted!”

If you wish me on your blogroll, I would be honored to be there. I promise I will try to stay put now. XD Unfortunately my entries will most likely focus on recovery from surgery, countless Doctor visits and WoW, so… I will take no offense if I’m missing from your link list. :) I will still continue coming over here and stalking you, of course. *giggle*

Can I be on the blog roll? xD

And grats on your own hosting but Surpass? I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything good about them. Good luck though :) More space = more sites and stuffs to play with xD

SUSHI. I miss Vancouver Sushi so much. It is cheap and reportedly the best in the world (even the Japanese say so). I am so glad you got to experience one of my favorite foods, even with your dietary restrictions (restrictions is a bad word since it makes it sounds like veganism is a bad thing and out of your control, but that’s not how I mean it.) It’s so cool that you’re able to go out with friends and have something that’s not just salad.

Yay for moving up!!! Never heard of Surpass though =|
