I had an absolutely fantastic Thanksgiving from beginning to end.
Thanksgiving Mass was beautiful and the choir sounded awesome. I have to say I really enjoyed the priest’s homily. I usually am not completely enthralled but I listened to every word. It just really hit close to home and I must say it really touched me and made me remember what I should really make me be thankful for: the little things that we tend to forget – even something as small as a glass of water.
Josh and I found the biggest garlic clove ever. Seriously… this is ONE clove of garlic. And that’s Josh’s big man hand! I told Josh that it’s probably radioactive and we probably shouldn’t eat it but he put it in his pumpkin soup anyway and we are not glowing so I think it was okay. Oh, and Josh’s pumpkin soup was awesome.
Speaking of cooking, I made Shepherd’s Pie. It’s vegan. Oh, and it’s also awesome. If you want the recipe, you can get it here: Shepherd’s Pie!!
I went to my parent’s house for Thanksgiving and it was really nice. We had a really great meal and it was nice company. I also helped out a lot since my Mom is still not feeling well from the surgery on her leg (she had a squamous skin cancer cut out of her leg). All in all it was a great Thanksgiving.
Here is the family photo requested by my grandmother in North Carolina who was not here. From left to right we have: Uncle Michael (mom’s brother), my sister Corinne, Dad, Mom, my Great Uncle Mike (the priest), Josh, and me!
Perhaps the best news of all and what I am most thankful for this Thanksgiving was found in an email when I got home:
This is a confirmation that today your application to the New Zealand Teachers Council has been approved and the relevant paperwork is being dispatched by post.
Now if that’s not something to be thankful for, I don’t know what is! Happy Thanksgiving! :)

That is awesome about the acceptance. I bet it’s a huge relief.
I’m glad Thanksgiving was a good day for you :) And that’s great that the New Zealand Teachers Council has accepted you! I mean, I’m sure they wouldn’t have rejected you anyway, but it’s good to have confirmation of that. :D
Lovely family photo! I was wondering about the prospects for New Zealand, if that was still on the to-do list… good for you that the process has begun and that soon you can *really* think about moving over there. Have you ever been, on visit with Josh?
