I'm Caity, a 25 year old living in New York with my husband, Josh. I'm a math teacher, amateur photographer, gamer, dreamer, blogger, singer, self-proclaimed dork, and wannabe kiwi. I sparkle!
Today was a pretty relaxing day for the most part. This morning I worked on this site a little bit. I decided to simplify the layout slightly, first of all. There has been some confusion regarding my layout and, as beautiful as it was, (as nice as the feature at the top with the sliding photos were) I decided that in the end it just caused more general confusion than it was worth. I guess it was a bit much for a personal blog anyway. I’ll stick to the good old blog layout for now. It’s what I am used to and what everyone else seems used to. Plus, it is much easier to manage and it looks a lot cleaner. Opinions? Comments?
Josh and I spent the afternoon cleaning our apartment. It seems to have become a weekend endeavor of ours and I like it. My task this weekend gravitated towards cleaning out our refrigerator which actually had become quite nasty. I think some things started growing in the back of there. Jungles of mold and forgotten foods of long ago started turning into brand new creations that I don’t think anyone wanted to know about. I actually debated throwing away my brand new tupperware instead of actually opening these magical looking things. However, I sucked it up and braved it! All my tupperware has been saved! Josh and I both battled the horrors of our fridge, took the inside shelves completely apart and cleaned it all out, and this is what is left. It doesn’t smell bad anymore! It’s amazing! Ah, the little joys of life, eh?
This evening, Josh and I went to another Vegan Long Island meetup! It was really great! We went to Raga Indian Restaurant. In total there were six people and we had a great time. The food was absolutely fantastic and we were treated very well. The most exciting part about the evening was that we were interviewed by the New York Times. A woman joined us to interview our party, take photos, and talk with all of us! I will share the article with you when I have it. It will be pretty exciting if my picture gets put in the paper, huh?

Wow your fridge is empty! Ours gets too full and stuff gets all jumbled together. That’s so cool about the interview!
OK, now you need to go grocery shopping to fill it up with only yummy and non expired items! Cleaning the fridge is so tedious and it is a little scary when you wait long enough to let things reproduce back there!
so cool about the NYtimes article, can’t wait to read it!
Wow! The NYT! That’s huge. How cool are you???
Such a neat fridge! I sense a wave of envy washing over me as I am terrified to look to the back of our fridge. I see a tumble of yoghurt pitchers that’s been there for *at least* 3-4 months, but I don’t think I can brave the potential smell attack that I’d get from touching them. Gods only know what’s at the back of our freezer, too, seeing as we just buy more and more and stuff it at the front while things inevitably get shoved back all the time…
Conga rats on the interview, too! :)
wow! Your fridge looks like new.
I hate cleaning the fridge, all those funky smells kind of make me lose my cool. But somehow I manage to get my courage back and I clean it.
The new layout is definitely easier to use. I liked the old one too, but this one’s definitely less confusing.
And congratulations for that interview!
soooooooo neat! hahaha! i can remember just how many times ive seen our fridge as clean as yours. hahaha!
Love the simplicity of your fridge! I hate when they’re all cluttered. Fortunately, my roommate and I both like it rather bare.
Oh how wonderful the fridge looks. You’ve inspired me to clean mine. Thanks Caity.
That fridge looks amazing! I have totally thrown away reusable containers before when things are just too disgusting. I really like your layout, I think it is really nice and clean.
I think the layout looks really neat. I prefer simplicity anytime:)
Your fridge looks amazing now. So clean:) I think I need to clean mine aswell soon:)
Holy smokes your fridge is super empty! It’s wonderfully clean though, much cleaner than ours. We clean ours out of dead food once a week and give it a good wash once a month but I don’t think my fridge has looked as nice as yours since I moved in!
Congrats on the NYTimes!
Would you like to come clean my fridge :D
Now all you need to do is a little grocery shopping to fill up your clean fridge! I have been putting off cleaning mine for awhile now.. you’d think this post would inspire me to get off my butt and clean mine as well — but it didn’t. :P But I WILL clean it before the holidays! Gotta make room for all the yummy goodness we’ll be taking home from my grandmother’s, hehe.
THAT fridge is a thing of beauty. Mine needs cleaning. And how.
And why does the word refrigerator have no “d” in it??
Oh I need to do my fridge too but I keep putting it off. I WILL do at some point before Christmas though because I don’t want it looking a mess over Christmas.
That would be great if you were in the paper! Can’t wait to see the article.
